I’m excited to introduce our latest group exercise class; Power For Life. This class is specifically designed to help improve your strength, balance, and bone health. In Australia, over 850,000 people are living with osteoporosis, with the majority being women over the age of 50. This condition affects bone strength, increasing the risk of fractures and making proactive management essential for long-term health. One of the best ways to build bone strength is through targeted exercises that stimulate osteoblast activity—the cells responsible for bone formation.
Our new class is inspired by cutting edge research conducted just down the road at Griffith University, which demonstrated the benefits of weight-bearing exercises for improving bone density in older adults. This trial focused on postmenopausal women, a group particularly susceptible to osteoporosis, and showed how strength and specific high impact training significantly increased bone density and reduced the risk of fractures.
What makes our class unique is its emphasis on challenging participants in terms of both strength and balance. We combine resistance exercises with weight-bearing movements to help build muscle mass while stimulating bone growth. The exercises are progressive, meaning they can be modified to suit different fitness levels, making the class accessible to everyone.
In addition to strength work, we focus heavily on balance. Improving balance reduces the risk of falls, a key factor in preventing fractures. Each session will include exercises targeting core stability and coordination, helping participants feel more confident in their movements.
If you’re looking to invest in your bone health, this class is for you! Whether you’re concerned about osteoporosis or simply want to improve your overall strength, this class will provide the tools and guidance you need to achieve your goals.
Join us and take proactive steps toward a stronger, healthier you—because building bone strength today can make all the difference tomorrow. If you would like more information please get in touch with the clinic; we would love to help you!
