THE Grinch failed to steal Christmas despite putting on an ovation-worthy performance during Tamborine Mountain Dance Academy’s end-of-year concert.
Children aged three to 18 wowed a packed audience for over three hours, ringing in the festive season with a colourful, energetic showcase of their progress in 2024.
The students’ level of mastery and skill was clearly on show as they displayed their talents in jazz, ballet, tap, contemporary, hip hop and acrobatic dance styles.
Eden Warwick, playing the part of the Grinch, and Jennifer Smith, as Cindy-Lou Who, shone on stage and kept the audience enthralled.
The professionalism, joy and hard work of the students under TMDA principal and artistic director Poppy-Jane Todd, who took over the school in late 2023, was apparent as the audience was mesmerised throughout the concert.
A new special perpetual trophy was also announced, honouring Amelia Ingram, a beloved student of TMDA for 13 years who sadly passed away in 2024 from a rare type of cancer.
Amelia’s mum, Belinda Ingram, announced the recipient of the new trophy (‘The Amelia (Millie) Ingram Inspiration Award’) after giving a very emotional speech, which left most in the audience in tears.
