AS ONE of its significant objectives, TMCCA aims to support and empower frail, aged and vulnerable seniors, providing quality services to assist with meeting their needs and to encourage positive ageing and wellbeing, while respecting clients’ rights, independence and privacy.
Spanning the range of services provided to TMCCA clients, the Centre-Based Day Care for Social Groups (held at 42, Southport Avenue, Eagle Heights), includes an array of activities such as arts, crafts, guest speakers, positive attitude workshops, sing-along sessions, quizzes, trivia, games, coffee mornings, movie afternoons, gentle exercise sessions, chair yoga sessions and carers groups.
Here’s a little peek at what goes on during one of these Social Support Groups – the Coffee Club, that is held on the second Wednesday, each month.
Today, 12 clients arrived at 10.30am all excited to meet their friends and participate in the pre-planned craft activity (Have a Heart) involving decoupage / collage and designing elegant, vintage designs (prepared by Sandra Evans) on prefabricated hearts cut out of timber and cardboard by the Tamborine Mountain Men’s shed.
Thank you to the Men’s Shed, Sandra Evans and Rita Keeble for thoughtfully conceiving this activity, bringing in all the resources and caringly facilitating this activity with much finesse.
Morning tea was served and everyone enjoyed meeting friends again, some, after a whole month!
The camaraderie was delightful and the wooden hearts turned into pretty memorabilia befitting a bygone era. Well done Coffee Clubbers – look forward to more creative projects in the future.
