For generations of Tamborine Mountain locals, Thunderbird Park has been a familiar part of growing up on the mountain.
From fossicking for thundereggs to days spent exploring the outdoors, it is a place that holds memories for many local families.
While those much-loved experiences remain, there is now plenty more waiting to be discovered at Tamborine Mountain Glades.
Marketing Manager Charlie-Anne Robins said returning to the Glades offers locals an opportunity to revisit those memories while sharing them with a new generation.
“There’s something really special about returning to a place you remember from your own childhood and getting to experience it again through your children or grandchildren,” she said.
“Thunderbird Park holds a lot of memories for local families, but it has also continued to evolve.”
Alongside thunderegg fossicking, families can now take on the TreeTop Challenge, try DIG IT or enjoy a round of mini golf.
Perhaps one of the biggest changes is that a visit no longer has to end when the day’s adventures are over.
Tamborine Mountain Glades offers accommodation ranging from woodland glamping and lodges to premium rooms, allowing locals to turn a familiar day trip into an overnight rainforest escape.
Dining is also available on site, while SOL Elements offers a contrasting wellness experience for those looking for something a little quieter.
“What we’re really creating now is a complete Tamborine Mountain experience in one destination,” Charlie-Anne said.
“You can have adventure, nature, dining, accommodation and wellness all within walking distance, while still retaining the character and connection to the rainforest that people remember.”
For locals accustomed to having the destination just down the road, Charlie-Anne said staying overnight provided an opportunity to experience their own backyard differently.
“You get to slow down rather than trying to fit everything into a day,” she said.
“There’s something quite special about feeling like you’re miles away from home, when in reality you’ve only driven down the road.”
Tamborine Mountain locals can currently receive 30 per cent off accommodation using the code LOCAL30, while a spontaneous midweek escape is also available for last-minute stays booked within the next 28 days.
“Sometimes the best escape doesn’t need a flight or a long road trip,” Charlie-Anne said.
“It can be somewhere you’ve driven past a hundred times and simply never stopped to experience in that way before.”
