AT OUR October meeting we were entertained and educated by Gordon Chalmers, who many of you would know from the Tamborine Mountain Distillery.

What most of us were not aware of are the other Scenic Rim  tourism related projects he was very much a part of prior to his current role at the distillery.

He arrived on the mountain back in 1999 to establish Jasmin Organic Cosmetics before moving onto something completely different – Summer Land Camel Farm at Harrisville, one of the area’s major attractions.

Gordon explained what was involved in relocating from the original Beacon Road premises and setting up the distillery, by completely renovating and rebuilding a very run down property at 10 MacDonnell Road  and the actual process of producing some global award winning products.

Unfortunately, there were no free samples provided as part of the presentation, but we were invited to attend the distillery, individually or as a group, to check out the many different liqueurs available.

We are always looking for new members to be involved in the many and varied activities within our club and we meet every third Wednesday at the Vonda Youngman Community Centre.
