TAMBORINE Mountain College Primary school students have thrown their support behind three College families who have been affected by brain cancer.
In the last week of school last term, the Primary students held an obstacle course as a fundraiser for the three current students’ families who have been devastatingly affected by brain cancer.
Mackenzie Griffin, a member of the Primary Student Representative Council, raised awareness of this disease to the other members of the Council and inspired them to support the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation with the event.
Wanting to help in any way they could, the students took the initiative to design and run a fundraiser obstacle course on the College grounds, turning fun and laughter into a force for good.
Their collective effort and determination resulted in a whopping $1,582.05 raised, which will be donated to the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation to support research, awareness, and families navigating the impacts of this heartbreaking illness.
Head of Primary, Mark Stevens, said the event was a true reflection of the TMC community spirit.
“Our students showed what it means to stand together in tough times, to take action when it matters, and to show kindness in a way that makes a real difference.”
Mr Stevens thanked all families who donated and cheered the students on, and the staff who helped facilitate the event.
“This fundraiser is not only a meaningful contribution to the Brain Cancer Foundation but also a powerful reminder of the hope that grows when a community comes together.”
