TAMBORINE Mountain Bowls Club has been very busy of late, with two home and away pennant trials against Canungra Bowls Club, seeing the Taipans happy to secure a total six rinks to zero wins in preparation for the Gold Coast District pennant season, which commenced on July 5.
The first pennant game is away against the massive Club Helensvale, but we, like all Mountain sporting teams, play well above our weight, so to speak, and look forward to the challenge.
Tamborine Mountain Bowls Club hosted our annual Winter Fours tournament on Saturday, June 28, welcoming 104 players from up-and-down the coast, several Bayside clubs, and a team from Pottsville to join in the fabulously successful day.
Club Tamborine sponsored the event, which saw a polished Burleigh Heads team (pictured), take the first prize of $1,000, along with the inaugural perpetual trophy.
We were also very proud to be able to enter a team in Canungra Ladies’ Wall Plaque competition, from which we had been absent for a number of years.
This competition sees Canungra ladies playing host for 10 games against various clubs, with our game being played at Canungra on July 3.
A resounding win to our Taipans sees them in contention to win the Wall Plaque, which will be finalised later in the year.
