Club Tamborine is preparing to bring back two of its most popular events, giving locals the opportunity to dress up, get creative and enjoy a night out.
Events coordinator Helen McAteer is excited to host another Halloween Party and Melbourne Cup Luncheon after joining the club last year.
Helen enjoys transforming the restaurant with decorations but says the most rewarding part is seeing the joy these events bring to the community.
“They’re both kind of a signature event of the club,” she said.
With Halloween proving popular on Tamborine Mountain, Helen hopes the event will give adults the opportunity to join in the festivities.
“There’s a lot of talk about kids trick or treating, but a lot of adults I’ve discovered being here like Halloween and like to get dressed up,” she said.
“I don’t think there’s many places that do Halloween – it gives adults the change to dress up, come along and have a good night.”
Dressing up is strongly encouraged for both events, with familiar and new faces welcome to join the celebrations.
Prizes will be awarded for best-dressed, including staff’s choice and people’s choice.
Helen said previous years had seen guests go to great lengths to create unique costumes, such as outfits made from chicken feathers and crocheted items.
This year, she hopes to introduce a costume parade at both events, giving guests the opportunity to showcase their creativity and hard work.
“What I’d like to encourage is a bit more of showcasing those people who have made the extra effort and want to participate in those awards,” she said.
“Just have them do a bit of a ‘show and tell’.
