Tamborine Mountain is getting ready to come alive with scarecrows, music and family fun as the Tamborine Mountain Scarecrow Festival returns from Friday 30 October to Sunday 1 November 2026.

Now celebrating its 19th year, the Tamborine Mountain Scarecrow Festival has become a much-loved local tradition, bringing together residents, businesses, schools, community groups and visitors for a weekend celebrating creativity and community spirit.

Throughout the three-day Scarecrow Trail, visitors can explore Tamborine Mountain and discover scarecrows popping up across the mountain.

The trail is free to enjoy, providing the perfect opportunity to explore the mountain, support local businesses and discover everything Tamborine Mountain has to offer.

The highlight of the weekend will be the Tamborine Mountain Scarecrow Festival at Cauldron Distillery on Saturday 31 October, with gates opening at 12.30pm and festivities beginning at 1pm.

This year’s festival will feature a fantastic afternoon of live entertainment from local bandsHaystack Mountain Hermits, The Good Ones,  The Shenzo Gregorio Quartet featuring vocalist Melissa Western, and Shanon Watson Band.

There will be plenty of fun activities for the kids with face painting, a scarecrow making tent, Northview Highland cows, sheep, pygmy goats, pig racing, a scavenger hunt as well as plenty of food trucks and market stalls.

There will even be a roving scarecrow on stilts!

Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic chair or blanket, find a spot on the grass and enjoy an afternoon of music, entertainment and community celebration.

But the Scarecrow Festival is about much more than one day.

For 19 years, the festival has encouraged people to get creative, explore the mountain and come together as a community.

Every scarecrow entered, every business that gets involved, every volunteer who gives their time and every visitor who follows the trail contributes to keeping this wonderful Tamborine Mountain tradition alive.

Geoff Baldwin, president of the Tamborine Mountain Chamber of Commerce which organises the event, said he is grateful to the sponsors, local businesses, volunteers, performers, scarecrow creators and community organisations whose support makes the festival possible.

Most importantly, the whole community is invited to get involved – build a scarecrow, follow the trail, support local businesses and bring your family and friends along to the festival event.
