Tamborine Mountain Arts Collective (TMAC) is one of 29 Queensland community-led organisations, to share in more than $1.5 million in Regional Community Arts Program (RCAP) funding.
TMAC president, Bronwyn Davies, said she was thrilled to receive the $96,000 which will help to support their delivery of community-based arts and cultural programs and activities.
“This investment will help TMAC expand programs, employ staff, and strengthen support for local artists through the Arts Trail and advocacy initiatives,” Ms Davies said.
“This funding is a game-changer for our community.
“It allows TMAC to confidently expand our programs, support local artists, and strengthen the Arts Trail – all while ensuring the long-term sustainability of our volunteer-run organisation.
“We’re thrilled to create opportunities for four related local groups and to continue advocating for artists across the Scenic Rim.”
The funding announcement is part of two year core funding through RCAP, which will support arts and cultural initiatives across Queensland.
Minister for the Arts John-Paul Langbroek said the new funding program was a key priority for the Government’s 10-year arts and culture strategy Queensland’s Time to Shine.
“Communities from Biloela, Charleville, Central Queensland, Gold Coast, Gympie, Mt Isa, South Burnett, Sunshine Coast, Townsville and Toowoomba are among those who’ll benefit from the Regional Community Arts Program,” Minister Langbroek said.
“This investment will assist a wide range of community-based groups including orchestras, musicians, singers, dancers, arts, music festivals, workshops and exhibitions.
“Dedicated volunteers contribute significant time and effort to regional arts organisations, and this funding will provide them with much needed support, as they look to attract wider audiences.
“This inaugural fund will inspire new audiences, contribute to our creative economy, and ensure our arts and cultural experiences grow heading into the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.”
As part of this funding, TMAC will focus on supporting local artists through the Arts Trail, community engagement, and advocacy initiatives, helping to grow the region’s creative economy and cultural experiences.
The Regional Community Arts Program (RCAP) supports community-led arts organisations and groups across regional Queensland.
Plans are already well under way for TMAC’s Arts Trail, to be held across Tamborine Mountain from May 2 to 4.
