Following on from our report in the last edition, the Gold Coast District Max Morris Memorial Sevens competition is now well underway.
It is pleasing to note that both of our sides, each consisting of three teams, are sitting on top of their respective sections after recording tremendous wins across the board over the past fortnight.
Our bowlers have been busy upskilling since late last year, and the proof is in the pudding.
It seems hard work really does bring its own luck, and perhaps it’s not too much to dream of a Taipans v Taipans final.
The photo shows Benowa Bees were happy hosts notwithstanding being beaten on all three rinks (and no, they were not responsible for the bandages).
Improved skill levels have also been evident in the Club Championships, which are progressing well.
The weekend of February 28, produced competitive and close results in the opening round of Mixed Pairs.
The event went ahead despite the showery conditions, reflecting the determination and commitment shown by the club’s bowlers.
The first men’s singles quarterfinal did not, however, go ahead, but not because the gentlemen concerned lacked the required determination.
Given they are two games ahead of schedule, the gentlemen involved elected to postpone the match to a more comfortable day in order to ensure a quality contest.
