Local rekindles a passion for acting in Gold Coast play

AFTER enjoying acting at high school and then taking a break to study science, Jordan Walsh is thrilled to be starring in the new Gold Coast play, Divorce Party.

At just 21, the Tamborine Mountain local is the youngest member of the cast.

Landing the part of Peaches, which Jordan said was the most competitive role, was a big surprise.

“I was stoked. Being able to land one of the first roles I auditioned for was very exciting and being part of an original play has been enormous fun,” she said.

“The character of Peaches is very sweet, innocent and bubbly.

Divorce Party was written by playwright and actor Michelle Macwhirter and explores the chaos that arises during the night when a recently divorced woman’s friends decide to throw her a divorce party.

“Divorce Party is super fun with serious undertones; a good balance between the two,” Jordan said.

The young actor, while still studying a Bachelor of Science at the University of Queensland, hopes to move into screen acting and eventually land a role in a movie.

“I love how imaginative acting is. A lot more goes into the process than I thought. I love being able to be creative,” she explained.

Working with other experienced actors is allowing Jordan to grow and further develop her craft.

“Everyone else (in Divorce Party) has been in the industry for much longer and is very talented so I’m learning a lot from the others.”

Divorce Party runs from March 29 to April 12 at the Gold Coast Little Theatre.
