Tamborine Mountain resident Steph Woods has been working with the Peace of Mind Foundation supporting people with brain cancer and their families.
The local mum of four young boys is passionate about making a difference in the lives of those with cancer and their families.
It was while working as a support worker with Rewilding Minds, helping a man with a brain tumour, that she met his wife, Fiona Hassmann from Peace of Mind Foundation.
Keen to continue to support Fiona in her work, Steph has organised a Bake off for Brain Cancer at The Escarpment.
She said through the help of the Peace of Mind Foundation, Australia’s leading brain cancer support charity, people have been able to come home from hospital and live for many more months beyond expectations.
“It proves to me that we are part of something very special and it’s an honour to sit in that space with people at that stage of life,” Steph explained.
Rebecca Gill from the Escarpment answered Steph’s call for a venue as she used to share a house with a man with brain cancer who Steph also supported.
The Bake Off for Brain Cancer will be an afternoon of fun, food and friendship on Saturday the 25th from 1pm to 4pm.
People are encouraged to bring their bake off creation to share or alternatively bring a plate of food to share.
Entry is $10 which includes tea, coffee and juice and live music. Alcohol is available to purchase.
Each year the Peace of Mind Foundation helps over 800 families affected by brain cancer.
