Chamber music filled the beautiful Shambala Estate mesmerising guests.

The Soloists Chamber Music Festival brought esteemed Finnish pianist and director of the National Australian Academy of Music Paavali Jumppanen to the mountain.

Paavali was joined by acclaimed violin virtuoso Jakob Jakowicz and together they produced an enthralling emotionally charged performance.

The highlight of their performance was Schubert’s Fantasie in C major for violin and piano and Beethoven’s iconic Kreutzer Sonata.

Paavali has performed extensively around the world and collaborated with highly regarded composers making his appearance at Shambala Estate a significant coup for the mountain.

The second concert, held in the afternoon, was to have featured guitar wizard Slava Grigoryan, however due to a death in his family he was unable to perform.

Southern Cross Soloists artistic director Margaret Blades stepped in with Musical Jewels featuring German pianist Roger Cui, Hungarian cellist, György Deri, operatic bass Jack Bolton, and Margaret herself on violin.

Together, the four musicians delivered a captivating performance featuring a diverse selection of works by composers such as Liszt, Kodály, Britten, Schubert, Mozart and Dohnányi.

The Soloists Chamber Music Festival will return to Shambala Estate next year from August 22 to 24.
