TAMBORINE Mountain’s reputation as one of Queensland’s best places to attend a marriage has been stamped once again at recent major wedding industry awards.
The 2024 awards overviewed all venues and wedding related services throughout the Gold Coast and Scenic Rim.
The recently rebranded Tamborine Mountain Glades took out a trifecta, winning Best Wedding Venue – Eco, Best Wedding Venue Coordinator and Best Boutique Wedding Accommodation.
It was also listed in the top three for Wedding Ceremony – Location.
Weddings are a booming business at Tamborine Mountain Glades and last year alone they hosted 208 ceremonies.
Group Sales Manager at the venue, Tamara Gray, said they already had 151 weddings pre-booked for 2025.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to have achieved the trifecta of awards and the recognition is a testament to our team’s dedication,” she said.
Other local award winners saw O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat awarded Highly Commended in the Best Wedding Venue catergory, Cedar Creek Estate won Best Wedding Venue – Winery, with Kooroomba Vineyard and Lavendar Farm as Highly Commended, while The Secret Garden Estate on Tamborine Mountain won Wedding Venue – Garden.
Highly commended operators included Scenic Rim Wedding Hire and Event Styling in the Best Event Hire category, Bearded Dragon Hotel for Best Wedding Venue Boutique Hotel, Rosewood Estate for Wedding Venue – Farm and Country, and St. Bernard’s Mount Tamborine for Wedding Venue – Historic.
Winners now contend the 2024 Australian Wedding Awards next February at Crown Towers, Melbourne.
Executive Officer of Destination Scenic Rim, Christelle Moller, said weddings were great business for the entire region.
“The wedding industry brings significant revenue to the area which now has more than 35 registered venues.
“Currently the region is hosting two to three weddings at each venue each week which in turn generates overnight stays of at least one to two nights for guests equating to 3000 visitors per day to the area for weddings alone,” she said.
“The demand for local wedding venues, accommodation, catering, photography, florists, event planners, transport providers, stylists, musicians and other related services stimulates business activities and in turn, supports a network of local vendors and suppliers. Plus we are seeing such a spike in couples asking for locally sourced menus, which is wonderful.
“Not only that, but weddings also create a sense of wonderful nostalgia, with many couples returning for anniversaries each year,” she said.
