After the disappointment of a first-round loss in the pennant competition, the Taipans bounced back with two strong wins to move into third place on the ladder.
Tamborine Mountain’s champion Men’s Fours team put in a strong showing at the District Champion of Club Champions event, narrowly missing out against a tough Benowa outfit. Mixed Pairs Champions Richard Coupe and Julie Forsyth were also in action, going down to an experienced Mudgeeraba team and avoiding a next-round clash with world champion Aaron Sheriff and his Broadbeach partner.
The club’s Men’s Champion Pairs remain in contention after a convincing 27-9 win over Canungra, advancing to the third round where they will face a strong Musgrave Hill team in a rematch of last year’s third-round encounter.
Games Director Bob Kirkright may need to return from the rehabilitation list to play, stepping in for super sub David Free, who is currently overseas.
