Tamborine Mountain local, Zoé Norton, has been providing First Aid and CPR Training in six locations in the Scenic Rim; Peak Crossing, Mount Alford, Rathdowney, Veresdale Scrub, Kooralbyn and Canungra through her business, Scenic Training.
This special program was organised and provided by Scenic Rim Regional Council, giving community members the opportunity to learn essential lifesaving skills and knowledge, build confidence and gain the awareness to keep each other safe in accidents and emergencies.
Zoé has been providing training and qualifications locally for five years.
She has trained a variety of different audiences including volunteers, doctors, working trades and young students of all ages.
Originally a Lifeguard and Swimming teacher of 15 years, Zoé has been running and providing training and qualifications in a number of industries including Lifeguard, Swim Teacher and Water Safety, Oxygen resuscitation, LVR, First Aid and CPR.
She can facilitate public courses and is also available as a mobile business for group training bookings.
Scenic Training provides services such as issuing qualifications, participating in education programs with children and Early Education staff and First Aid workshops.
In Term Three, Zoé engaged with the students of St Bernard State School, teaching Bush First Aid, building awareness and confidence with the children, enabling them with lifesaving knowledge.
An Aquatic Education program has been designed by Scenic Rim Regional Council Library to raise awareness for parents and toddlers about swimming safely, emergencies, water dangers and CPR in the lead up to summer.
“When we gain these training and skills, more opportunities arise, and then these industries will grow in our local communities, especially in the area of my passion, swimming and drowning prevention,” says Zoe.
