Paths well travelled, friendships well made

For more than twenty years Tamborine Mountain Bushwalkers has quietly been exploring the beauty of the Scenic Rim and beyond.

Walking with the group is a great way to experience nature, connect with others who are interested in their environment and perhaps see places you might not otherwise go to.

Favourite hikes have included rainforests, wetlands, rivers, beaches and, of course, a number of national parks on Tamborine Mountain.

A recent 12 km hike along Dave’s Creek circuit at Binna Burra revealed spectacular views including waterfalls we could see on the opposite side of the Numimbah valley.

The diverse vegetation types included delicate fungi that had emerged in the recent rain and early autumn flowers amongst the heathlands.

We enjoyed a BYO picnic lunch at Picnic Creek and plenty of additional rest stops including the Binna Burra Tea House in the afternoon.

Tamborine Mountain Bushwalkers are an informal volunteer group.

We are a very friendly and supportive bunch of people (18 years old and over) and although you need a reasonable level of fitness to participate, we never leave anyone behind!

Each walk is led by someone who knows the track.

Generally the starting point is no more than one hour drive from Tamborine Mountain with carpooling from the Tamborine Mountain Information Centre.

River and city walks may involve public transport.

Walks are free but we contribute to the drivers’ costs and there might be individual costs if we stop at a café after the walk.

We do not hold public liability insurance.

The group meets every second Saturday of the month. The next walk is Box Forest Circuit (11km, moderate grade) on Saturday April 11 in the Lamington National Park.

It’s a fantastic track with open forests and towering Brush Box trees, and beautiful waterfalls.
