Quite an intense past month with cat bite injuries and nasty infection resulting in a stint in hospital making for an interesting meeting with hand taped in a constant voting position, laptop crushed by hospital trolley, and a constitution subjected to medical treatment!
At the invitation of Birnam Range Road residents, who recently underwent a road closure due to maintenance issues exacerbated by wet weather, I joined the Scenic Rim Sunrise Rotary for an information breakfast featuring the organisation’s projects, YACC’s work, and setting up of a much-needed local Toy Library. In relation to ongoing road issues, Council crews are diligently working to resolve and urge to please drive to the conditions.
Discussion at the 2026 Civic Leaders Summit centred around the ongoing fuel crisis, the LGAQ acknowledging there is a long way to go before the worldwide situation improves.
When Cyclone Alfred first blew into town a year ago, so did the inaugural CWA Tamborine branch who celebrated their very first year of community support. Congratulations!
Tamborine Rural Fire Brigade marked their 58th Anniversary with an Open Day, and thankfully recruited quite a few new local members on the day.
Cutting the ribbon on the new amenities’ facility for the Tamborine Equestrian Group at their CCI-4 Short Eventing Competition was a very special honour indeed! Supported by Council with a grant of $20,000, the TEG is the only centre in Queensland (and proudly Division Two) where competitors can gain Olympic qualifications.
The new facility was acquired from a mining site and with the second side allocated as unisex, was particularly welcomed by the over 200 female competitors at the event (and the seven male competitors of course)!
A privilege to join the amazing, dedicated volunteers of the Scenic Rim Heritage Network (including members from the Tamborine Mountain Heritage Centre) on a trip to the Kingston Butter Factory and Logan City Historical Museum for an ‘information-gathering’ day.
The public art piece for Tamborine, over two years in the making, originally instigated by Former Division 2 Councillor Jeff McConnell, funded by the Scenic Rim Regional Council, and created by artist Colleen Lavender, in final completion of the piece has had the words ‘Welcome to Tamborine’ installed onto the face of the artwork.
I’ve run out of space but goes to show – community is where connections are made!
