THE Tamborine Mountain Lions Club gives awards at each school, not so much for academic achievement, although that can be part of it, but to ‘all rounders’ or for excellence that’s not necessarily measured by subject marks.
For instance, one school’s award is for dedication to learning, personal growth, work ethic, curiosity, and commitment.
Such awards celebrate the incredibly human and personal element at the core of meaningful education.
Lions presented cash bursaries and trophies in November and December 2025 to some outstanding students:
- Zanthe Gibson – St Bernard State School
- Etta Beard – Tamborine Mountain State School
- Mason Hawkes – Tamborine Mountain State High School (junior)
- London Davidson – Tamborine Mountain State High School (senior)
- Millie Whapham – Tamborine Mountain College (junior)
- Addison Moorkens – Tamborine Mountain College (senior)
A school awards and graduation night is an uplifting event.
Lions members were thrilled to present the awards and a few tears were wiped away – not only by the parents!
