A LOCAL line dancing group is welcoming new members to step into rhythm and community, with twice-weekly classes focused on fitness, fun, and friendship.
Operating under the U3A umbrella, the Tamborine Mountain Line Dancing group meets on Tuesdays from 1–3pm at the Vonda Youngman Community Centre and Fridays from 10.45am–12.45pm at the Zamia Theatre, with each session costing just $5.
The first hour of every class is beginner-friendly, making it ideal for newcomers.
Course coordinator Vesna McCathie, who has danced for a decade and led the group for two years, said the benefits extend well beyond the physical.
“Dancing helps with balance, joint strength, and flexibility,” she said.
“But it also lifts your mood and brings people together in such a beautiful way.”
The group often finishes Tuesday sessions with coffee at a local café, further enhancing the social aspect.
“It’s a great way to make friends and feel part of the community,” Vesna said.
“No one has to dance alone.”
The dancers also perform at local events, bringing their routines and enthusiasm to public venues, most recently performing at the Canungra Show.
They will also appear at the Bowls Club on 13 September for a lively lunchtime show.
