Despite the steady drizzle and muddy boots, fans of the Legends of Country music festival weren’t deterred from gathering at Woodstock in Tamborine on May 31 – proving that when it comes to country music, “the rain don’t fall on a tin roof heart,” as Troy Cassar-Daley might say.
The inaugural festival brought together a lineup of national and local talent including Lee Kernaghan, Troy Cassar-Daley and Casey Barnes, with proceeds from the event going back to the Woodstock Farm and their programs.
Local country artist and Tamworth Country Music Festival Star Maker finalist Briana Dinsdale, who performed earlier in the day, praised both the event and the crowd’s resilience.
“It’s all for a good cause and seeing it finally come to life is amazing,” she said.
“The community, despite the weather, has still turned up and supported us, which is awesome.”
Briana previously played the venue when opening for John Williamson, and said it was heartening to see the festival grow from an idea into a full-scale event.
“There’s definitely a need for more festivals like this out here,” she said.
“Country music has a huge following in this region, and supporting local talent is so important.”
