It’s hard enough putting words together to write a book, but penning the book in poetry form takes it to another level.

Tamborine Mountain Repair Cafe’s “poet in residence”, Jaime Strauss, has recently achieved just that.

Her book “Josie Burlo” has been described by her publishers, Olympia Publishers London, as a captivating verse novel.

In their promotional overview the publishers said the book was a thrilling tale of survival, betrayal, and the extraordinary strength of an ordinary woman pushed to her limits.

Writing is just one of Jaime’s retirement pursuits.

The former Tamborine Mountain psychotherapist lives on a six acre property where she cares for unwanted animals.

At the moment she says there are 30 plus mouths to feed.

Jaime said she loves writing and verse so she combined the two in her book.

She also writes poems for ceremonies that she conducts as a celebrant, as well as advertising poems for a community care organisation.

To complete this story I asked the poet herself, to finish it because I couldn’t myself.

I’m a journalist not a poet, unlike Jaime.

And that’s not a maybe.

Hi, guys ,

Because of your interest in my writing style,

I’ve been working on something for quite a while.

I extended my verse into a book –

It’s fast-paced and reflects our world today,

in which distorted perceptions get in the way .

So, if you think I’m worthy of reading,

please buy my book. (I’m begging and pleading )

Josie Burlo is the title, and the heroine’s name.

She’s feisty, she’s pretty and she’s got a good brain.

She’s real, she’s vulnerable and she’s flawed,

but, I promise you, the book won’t, make you bored.

Thank you for paying attention to, my words.

I do try to make you feel better, with, my absurds.
