Easter Cassia is one of the weeds of significance in our local area.
Yellow flowers all over Tamborine Mountain … unfortunately this pretty plant is a weed.
They are becoming very prolific in private properties and along roadsides, we don’t usually notice them until they are flowering around Easter time hence the name ‘Easter Cassia’ (Senna pendula var glabrata).
They have five large petals with prominent yellow margins and the seed pods are cylindical pods and hang downwards.

The Easter Cassia is regarded as an environmental weed in NSW and Qld.
We at Tamborine Mountain Landcare are doing our best to eradicate these and other significant weeds in the local Council reserves, but we don’t have the resources to tackle every weed on the mountain – it would be great if at least the private property owners could take them out.
