Dining experience fit for royalty

GUESTS can’t help but be struck by the beauty of the dining room when they walk into Pether’s Rainforest Restaurant.

The rainforest surrounding the stunning building is the perfect backdrop for an exceptional meal.

Chef Alex Fee has created dishes that are unique; even when it comes to something as seemingly simple as a cucumber sorbet, there is always an additional level of taste.

To present their summer menu, Pethers held a tasting dinner, which was a delight for everyone who attended.

Alex explained each dish as it was served, his enthusiasm for his craft evident.

He also has a philosophy of using local products where possible and promoting other local businesses.

For example, the palate cleanser included fingerlime pearls, which pleasantly surprise the mouth as you enjoy the sorbet.

Whether Alex is preparing eye fillet, oysters or a dessert, the creativity and care that goes into each dish is evident.

The new menu provides an insight into Alex’s talent, with the Pethers Harvest Avocado Panna Cotta a dish not to be missed.

Avocado blended with Panna Cotta, presented in an avocado shell, the chocolate seed filled with mango gel – in terms of imagination it is truly something worthy of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and was a delight to eat.

Something one of my fellow diners, a regular at Pethers, said stuck with me: “When I go out to a fine dining restaurant I like to be treated like a king”, he said.

A night at Pethers does exactly that.

Not only is the food fit for royalty, but the service is exceptional.

Alex will introduce a new menu in March and Pethers will host another tasting dinner based on that menu on March 26.

Pether’s Rainforest Restaurant is currently open Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights for dinner.

Local residents and guests are offered a three course fine dining experience for $89 per person.

For bookings and enquiries call Pethers on 5545 4577.
