Member for Scenic Rim Jon Krause has announced the Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) service between Tamborine Mountain and Helensvale will become permanent on 29 September 2025.
With a permanent Beenleigh service already in place, this DRT service – made permanent after a trial period – will continue connecting mountain residents to key public transport, retail and employment hubs at Helensvale and Beenleigh.
The service provides four daily return trips to Helensvale and one daily return trip to Beenleigh.
Minister for Transport and Main Roads Brent Mickelberg said this was great news for the Tamborine Mountain and surrounds community.
“This has been achieved through the advocacy of local member Jon Krause, who has advocated over a long period together with the Mountain community for better public transport,” he said.
“Making the service permanent will better connect Tamborine Mountain to the Gold Coast and Brisbane.”

“I thank those who have consistently advocated for this, especially Mountain residents and organisations such as the Tamborine Mountain Chamber of Commerce and the local Rotary Club.”
Although the Beenleigh to Tamborine Mountain service passes through Tamborine, it does not stop.
Mr Krause said the improvement to public transport on Tamborine Mountain a fantastic first step.
“In relation to further improvements, including the potential for additional services or
stops (including potentially at Tamborine), this advocacy will continue,” he said.
“I have requested, through the Minister for Transport, that Translink work with local groups like the Chamber of Commerce and local businesses, and to listen to feedback from residents, and together with all these parties work on options to further improve services in the future.”
Following customer feedback, the Helensvale morning return services will depart later at 9:30am and 12.30pm to allow extra shopping time at Helensvale.
The later departure time from Helensvale means the afternoon trip from Tamborine Mountain will shift to 1:30 pm.
Booking information:
The DRT service will pick you up from your desired location in either Tamborine Mountain, North Tamborine or Eagle Heights before heading down the mountain and across to either Helensvale or Beenleigh station.
You can book trips Monday to Friday, between 7am and 6pm.
Bookings must be made at least one hour before you travel.
For the first trip of the day, bookings need to be made by 6pm the day before you travel.
