Tamborine Mountain Community Care Association (TMCCA) are funded by the Federal Government’s Department of Health to deliver services under the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) and help over 65’s remain living in their homes rather than entering permanent residential aged care facilities.
The organisation pride ourselves on the services we offer and how we deliver them to the consumer.
Under the terms of the funding, all service providers need to meet a set of Quality Standards that defines how the service should assist consumers and a set of guidelines about the services delivered and expectations that need to be met.
The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, an independent government department, conduct audits on the services to ensure compliance against the quality standards.
Audits are carried out once every three years, although the last audit that our service underwent was in 2018!
A little overdue as commission resources were directed to Residential Aged Care facilities as a result of the Royal Commission conducted into Aged Care.
TMCCA’s recent audit was conducted over three days in May 2025 by two lead auditors and two observers.
The auditors were thorough and spoke with many consumers (or their representatives), staff, volunteers and contractors to determine our compliance to the standards.
Following the audit, a brief summary during the closing meeting was provided about the audit teams assessment of our performance in relation to the services we operate, against the Quality Standards.
Findings that would be included in a written audit report.
Where a provider fails to meet the standards, they need to provide a written response to the commission detailing the actions that are to be taken to ensure compliance.
Part of the continuous improvement process that all service providers should have in place.
TMCCA failed to meet the standards in one small area in the administration process of consumer care plans.
Our Improvement Plan has been updated to include remedial action and submitted to the commission for their final decision on the outcome of the audit.
We are very pleased with the audit process and thank all those that provided feedback to the commission.
