TAMBORINE Mountain Creative Arts Centre will welcome celebrated author, textile artist and teacher Alysn Midgelow Marsden, as she presents a three day workshop at the Creative Arts Centre in Wongawallan Rd from March 19-21.
Entitled Bark Metal and Form the workshop brings together surface exploration and simple construction using metal cloth, textiles, paper and stitch, drawing inspiration from the textures and patterns found in tree bark and natural surfaces.
Stitchers will work with metal cloths, sheer fabrics, heat reactive materials such as Lutradur, and reclaimed fine metals.
The workshop is primarily designed for machine stitching, but hand stitchers are welcome.
There will be guidance, demonstrations and examples throughout while working towards developing finished pieces that reflect your own ideas and direction.
