Tamborine Mountain Community Care Association (TMCCA) relies on the assistance of volunteers to provide support for seniors on the hill who need some extra help with the day-to-day functions that some of us take for granted.
It’s all about bringing a little sunshine into someone’s life – a smile, a warm touch and a kind word can make a big difference in anyone’s day.
The TMCCA Volunteer Drivers Program is achieving this difference.
It has enriched the lives of those who need that little bit of help to reach a medical/dental appointment, while providing our volunteers with a sense of satisfaction that they have provided a valuable service to the community.
Currently we need more volunteers for driving clients to their medical appointments, locally and to the Gold Coast.
Volunteer drivers will be required to use their own vehicles and will be reimbursed for fuel/running costs in line with ATO guidelines. Clearly, you will possess a valid driver’s licence and your vehicle will be registered, roadworthy and insured.
Dates and time slots (suitable to you) will be recorded and we will request you (well in advance), if we have a requirement.
Sometimes your family appears at the last minute or your art teacher has added a special class and you may be unable to drive on a certain day. We understand – you may decline our request for that day.
However, if you have already committed to undertake a specific drive, we trust you will honour it, unless of course, an emergency comes along.
Any necessary skill training as well as a National Police Check (if you do not have a current one) will be provided free of charge to you. This enables volunteers to gain skills, useful throughout life. You will end up making friends in the process.
