Wildlife enthusiast and educator Beau Eastman will be screening his stunning series Enter the Wild for Tamborine Mountain residents.

The former mountain resident, who works at the Glow Worm Caves, has been travelling Australia and Komodo Island to produce the spectacular educational short form series.

“We try to connect viewers emotionally to the animal and motivate them to learn how they can protect them,” he said.

Beau worked as a zookeeper for many years and took up filming wildlife as a hobby.

“The turning point was when I was living on Kangaroo Island filming the glossy black cockatoos,” he said.

“The producer from the Our Planet series reached out to me and asked if they could use the footage. “I said, ‘yes of course’.”

Beau only dared to dream that it would be for a David Attenborough series, but months later he watched as the renowned wildlife expert narrated over his footage.

“That was the turning point for me to start my own project,” he explained.

“A friend came on board to add the music and that was when the project really took off.”

It features wildlife in Australia and Komodo Island in Indonesia all filmed and narrated by Beau in classic BBC wildlife documentary style.

The series features the quokka, the humpback whale, wedgetail eagle, black-shouldered kite and Komodo dragon.

The screenings will help raise money for Beau to continue producing the next episode which he said will give viewers a totally different perspective on the famous dingoes on K’gari.

Beau will be encouraging audience participation, particularly children with pop quizzes and a question-and-answer session, which he hopes will inspire others to follow in his footsteps as a wildlife filmmaker.

“It’s a really nice way to connect with the audience. I would love to inspire the younger generation,” he said.

Enter the Wild will be screening at Zamia Theatre on June 27 at 7pm.
