We’ve enjoyed an amazing week of yoga and our classes focussed on the Lymphatic system.
The lymphatic system includes the lymph nodes, lymph vessels, bone marrow, spleen, thymus, tonsils and adenoids, and lymph tissue in the small intestine.
The main roles of the lymphatic system include managing the fluid levels in the body, and it protects us from foreign invaders such as bacteria, viruses, parasites and fungi by producing lymphocytes to destroy them.
The lymphatic systems also helps your body absorb fats.
Our yoga class consisted of long held stretches and inversions which put gentle pressure on the lymphatic ducts and encouraged the movement of lymph through the body.
And because this is a yoga class, we never stop at just the physical body but look deeper into the metaphysical meanings behind imbalances in the lymphatic system.
Viewing the human being as the sum of its physical, energetic, mental, emotional and spiritual layers.
In this light you could consider that the free flow of lymph reflects the free flow of energy, emotions, and spiritual insights in the body and psyche.
Blockages in the lymphatic system, might indicate areas of stagnation, unresolved issues, or suppressed emotions.
Infections in the lymphatic system might indicate attacks on your personal integrity.
You might be working or living in a highly critical environment, where your beliefs, ethics and morals might be under attack.
Your lymphatic system is one of the many systems your body has in place to maintain integrity and protect your boundaries.
