ST GEORGE’S Anglican Church will host former Australian Aboriginal Model, founding owner of Black Bold and Beautiful and Yagara, Quandamooka, Bundjalung and Tanna Island Elder, Sandra King OAM when she presents ‘Untold Histories.
‘Untold Histories’, is an insight into First Nation People’s history that many may not have heard or discussed, without bias, at school.
It intertwines Australia’s history, in particular the impacts of past policies and legislation with Sandra’s own life and the life of her community.
It will be an opportunity to broaden knowledge and awareness of Australia’s Untold History.
Sandra King received the Order of Australia in 2020 for service to the Indigenous community.
Sandra is the Reconcilation Action Plan (RAP) Coordinator for the Anglican Church Southern Queensland.
She has a special interest in breaking down the barriers and changing perceptions, as well as informing and inspiring and empowering her community, especially Aboriginal youth.
She is passionate about sharing Australia’s story and her own story through “Untold Histories”.
Past participants have found this workshop to be fascinating, saying the personal family content takes it from the general history to the personal history.
This is a free event held on Saturday July 20 from 10am to 1.30pm and everyone is welcome.
