The lure of a chicken-and-prawn lunch proved irresistible for many bowlers braving the summer heat on Sunday December 7, with a strong contingent of Taipans turning out across three teams for the Canungra Invitational.
Sue and Brett Arthur, along with Sal and Darren, took out the title of the day’s most festive team, while Latchy linked up with former Taipan Steve for a competitive run.
But it was the more serious-minded crew who delivered where it counted.
Bob Kirkright, Jim Nugent, Dave Bartholomeusz and Lance Cordingley put together two wins and a +27 margin to secure the best overall score of the day and the prize money to match.
In a twist that surprised just about everyone, Jimmy walked away empty-handed in the raffles, a rare occurrence, according to those who know his usual luck.
