The popular Southern Cross Soloists Chamber Music Festival will return to Tamborine Mountain this year from August 14-16 at Shambala Estate.
A total of nine concerts will spark imagination and ignite the senses with world class chamber musicians.
This year a circus performer will join a solo violin in a delicate dance, while families will be welcomed with the chance to dive into playful demonstrations, pamper themselves with a sonic meditation or a night of community folk music.
Southern Cross Soloists is now in its 22nd year and celebrates the finest in chamber music, uniting virtuosic musicians and world class programming in an immersive and intimate setting.
In 2024 it relocated from Bangalow to Tamborine Mountain, allowing the Festival to expand artistic possibilities and reach new audiences and establish a new Queensland cultural hub for chamber music.
This year’s event will again see a collaboration with Tamborine Mountain Orchestra.
Tamborine Mountain Orchestra marketing and social media officer Sean Donnelly said it’s not every day you get to perform with world class musicians and this year there’s talk they may be the opening act with the Soloists.
“Last year Festival director Tim Munro produced a program with some well-known pieces such as the Slow Movement from the Mozart clarinet concerto and Spring from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and mixed it up with some modern pieces including Honour the Earth by Australian composer Sarah Hopkins,” Sean said.
“This piece also showcased well-known local didgeridoo artist Russell Smith.”
