At 2.30pm on Sunday 16 June, Tamborine Mountain Orchestra will present “Short and Suite” for their June concert at the TMSHS auditorium.
Short and Suite will feature soloists and small ensembles, as well as the full (and ever-growing) orchestra. Soloists will include Julius (one of our school students) on trumpet, TMO legend Barbara Lassiter on piano, and Emma Heading-Knight on flute playing a composition by her husband Andrew. Ensembles showcase the broad musical talent in the orchestra, with jazz, recorders, brass, string, saxophone and clarinet groups in various arrangements playing diverse styles of music.
Making their debut performance will be a quartet of TMO members still in primary school but already playing Smoke On The Water.
The showpiece for the orchestra will be Peter Warlock’s Capriol Suite, a magnificent composition consisting of six Renaissance-style dances, each movement showcases different rhythms, melodies, and emotions. The suite bridges old and new to take listeners on a journey through court and folk dances and festivities from centuries ago.
Tickets are $12 for adults and free for children, and can be booked through www.ticketbo.com.au/tmo, with limited availability at the door.
TMO warmly thanks Tamborine Mountain State High School for the use of its auditorium for concerts and rehearsals, Scenic Rim Regional Council, and sponsors The Grand Chameleon wedding venue and cafe and Scenic Property Partners for their support.
