Music lovers are in for a treat as Groovenote and Tamborine Mountain Arts Collective present the Tamborine Mountain Arts Trail Music festival on Sunday, May 3rd at the St Bernards Hotel. The event will showcase local performing artists who are active in the vibrant cultural scene, as part of the Tamborine Mountain Arts Trail.
This mini festival will showcase a line-up of local artists, headlined by the groovin’ Splinter House Band featuring Jamie Lee Wilson, Shenzo Gregorio, Pete Neville, Ludek Němeček, Andrew Heading-Knight, and Duane Williams. Get ready to boogie as this band delivers infectious funk and groove rhythms designed to get punters dancing.
Featured artists include well known local Russell Smith’s new venture with Adam Matijasevic and Pete Neville (the Absent Tjilpi’s), joined for the ride by wunderkind guitarist Jay Dallas. Relative newcomer to the Mountain singer Georgia O’Neil and blues harpist Doug Thomas will be backed by the house band, while Forbes Mc Kail of the Hot Soul Party Band, will strut his stuff (we may even see a cameo of Hops and Harmony appear with Jamie on board – get those vocal folds warmed up!). The line-up continues with Susannah Lathlean and Margy Rose, offering their compelling musical partnership, and what’s a Mountain gig without Blind Corner’s Toby Angus playing selected gems.
Adding a curious twist to the program, accomplished actor Darren Gilshenan will present his fascinating Drum n Shakespeare mashup – a creative fusion that promises to be both entertaining and thought-provoking. The evening will also feature vinyl selector Wavy Beach playing choice record gold to open the gig and keep the dance floor moving between band sets.
The mini festival is an all-ages gig, with children under 15 free. Doors open at 5pm.
