Located at 7 Elevation Drive, Wongawallan, Fox and Hounds Country Inn is an authentic slice of Britain, complete with centuries of history, traditional food, international beers and a welcoming atmosphere.
Owner Justin Hemer said authenticity was at the heart of the experience.
“The whole interior is from an old pub in England,” he said.
“The pub closed down in 1987 for renovations and a local went in and bought the pub and gutted everything he could physically remove.”
Today, original fireplaces, doors and timber salvaged from the centuries-old English pub create a warm and inviting space.
One dining room is lined with more than 100 football scarves and British sporting memorabilia donated by passionate patrons, while another pays tribute to the Royal Family.

From enjoying a traditional Yorkshire pudding beside the fireplace to soaking up the atmosphere with an imported British ale, the venue offers a genuine taste of Britain without leaving South East Queensland.
The kitchen, led by Welsh head chef Lisa Rosser, is equally committed to authenticity.
Traditional British and Welsh recipes feature throughout the menu, including Lisa’s closely guarded Welsh rarebit recipe, while the venue’s pork sausages are custom made to Justin’s own recipe.
Justin said the pub had become a home away from home for many British expats.
“COVID was a massive time for us,” he said.
“Seventy to eighty per cent of our trade is British. They wanted a place to feel like home when the borders were shut, and this place was it.”
Beyond the menu, Fox and Hounds has become known for celebrating traditional events including Guy Fawkes Night, St George’s Day and other British festivities.
The pub also offers its popular Murder Mystery events, perfect for birthday celebrations, work functions or a get-together with friends.
Once a booking is confirmed, each guest is assigned a unique character complete with a backstory, title and costume guide before stepping into an interactive evening of clues, dining and crime-solving.
