PERSONAL living aids are essential tools designed to assist individuals with daily activities, promoting independence and improving quality of life for those with disabilities, age-related challenges or recovering from injuries/surgery. They include modified household items, specialized equipment, and assistive technology designed to support various tasks.
Types of Personal Living Aids
Daily Living Aids: These include user-friendly versions of common household items, such as adaptive cutlery, gripping aids, and reaching tools. They are designed to assist with tasks like eating, dressing, and personal care.
Kitchen Aids: These include tools designed to assist with cooking and meal preparation, such as jar openers, easy-grip utensils, and non-slip mats.
Cognitive Aids: Products like medication reminders, orientation clocks, and sensory items help individuals with cognitive impairments manage daily tasks and reduce anxiety.
Bathroom Aids: Equipment like grab bars, shower chairs, and raised toilet seats can make bathing and toileting safer and more accessible.
Mobility Aids: Devices such as walkers, wheelchairs, crutches and canes that help individuals move around safely and independently, reducing the risk of falls and enhancing mobility.
Benefits of Using Personal Living Aids
Promote Independence: By enabling individuals to perform daily tasks independently and to foster a sense of autonomy and self-sufficiency.
Enhance Safety: Many aids are designed to reduce the risk of accidents and injuries, particularly for those with mobility challenges.
Improve Quality of Life: With the right aids, individuals can engage more fully in daily activities, leading to greater satisfaction and well-being.
TMCCA hire out a range of Bathroom and Mobility aids on short term basis. These include wheelchairs, 4 wheeled walkers, walking frames, bed side rails, shower chairs, over toilet frames, walking sticks and crutches. Our hire charges are a maximum of $30 per month per item. Crutches have no charge. The fees received are used to enhance our ability to provide services to the aged so that they can remain living in and enjoy their own homes, rather than enter residential care.
