The new Queensland Police Commissioner, Brett Pointing, travelled to the mountain last month to have breakfast at Spice of Life café with long term friend John Penglis.
John and the commissioner have been friends since the early 1990s.
John said he is absolutely delighted that Brett was appointed Police Commissioner.
“Some years ago, Brett departed as Deputy Police Commissioner and joined the Federal Police as Deputy Commissioner,” said John.
“As Queensland Deputy Police Commissioner he served under Premier Campbell-Newman and as Federal Deputy Police Commissioner he spent some time in Indonesia until he retired.
“Brett lives on the Gold Coast and his father also served for many years in the Queensland Police force.
“It was indeed a great pleasure that our new Commissioner visited us on Tamborine Mountain.”
