Mind Your Mind!

WE CAN go three weeks without food, three days without water, three minutes without oxygen but we can’t go three seconds without thinking.

Our mind is in a state of constant chatter.

In an age of technology there is constant access to vast amounts of information and people get overwhelmed.

The eye of the storm is not so much what goes on in the world, it is the confusion of how to think, feel, process and react to what goes on.

Whatever you experience in your mind is also experienced in your body.

If our minds are messed up, our lifestyles are messed up and our mental and physical health suffer.

When our thinking is toxic it affects the stress response, which then starts working against us instead of for us.

Researchers claim that toxic stress is responsible for up to 90 percent of illness.

When someone is in toxic thinking state, the release of stress hormones such as cortisol and homocysteine significantly affect the immune, cardiovascular and neurological systems.

Mind management is a skill that we all need to learn.

Typically, most of our self talk is judgemental.

Judgement never produces transformation. If we can turn our judgmental thoughts into a more compassionate internal conversation, we create opportunity to understand what’s really happening for us in the those moments of anger, reactivity, offence or hurt.

We have within us the ability to tap into a state of self awareness that allows us to develop a sense of peaceful control.

Despite what is going on around us, we can create a mental space that allows us to get in tune in to our internal world, process our emotions and facilitate a conversation between those deeper parts of us that are often ignored.

We are not prisoners to the contents of our mind.

Mind management is the pathway to healthier thoughts, healthier body and healthier relationships.
