Chloe Rogers and Jennifer Smith have competed in Australia’s largest dance competition in Brisbane.
The girls spent weeks training for the Claudia Dean Scholarships, attending workshops and training with some of the country’s most prestigious dancers, including the Royal Ballet School’s head of intensives and talent identification Paul Kay.
Over several days at the Claudia Dean Scholarships they performed solo ballet dances in front of judges Lisa Pavane, former director of the Australian Ballet School and Garry Trinder, director of the New Zealand School of Dance.
Both girls also participated in judged ballet masterclasses taught by Lisa Pavane and Claudia Dean from the Claudia Dean Academy.
The girls competed against hundreds of other dancers from around the world for prize money, scholarships and prestigious training opportunities.
It was the second year in the competition for 13-year-old Jennifer, who made it through to the top 24 semi-finalists in the 13–14-year-old level.
Chloe, 9, competed for the first time in the 7-10-year-old level.
Both girls are looking forward to participating again next year.
