Residents expressed frustration when they turned up for cuppa with the mayor at the library to find it wasn’t on.
Seven people waited outside the library on Friday April 10 to meet and discuss issues with the mayor.
Penny Aagaard said those who arrived were frustrated and the library staff were not aware it had been cancelled.
The event, an initiative by Mayor Tom Sharp to provide the opportunity for residents to meet him and give feedback or raise issues, was postponed until Friday April 17 due to the Easter Good Friday public holiday.
Tamborine Mountain News ran the incorrect date in two editions of the paper and was advised of the correct date on April 1.
Tamborine Mountain News editor Keer Moriarty apologised for the confusion but urged residents to attend future cuppa with the mayor events.
“This is a great initiative and it is rare for a mayor to be so accessible to residents so I hope people will continue to support it in a positive way,” she said.
Council apologised for any inconvenience to members of the community caused by the re-scheduling of the recent Meet the Mayor session due to the Good Friday public holiday.
The Meet the Mayor sessions will be continue to be held on the second Friday of each month at the Tamborine Mountain Library forecourt.
Any changes to the schedule will be communicated via Council’s Facebook page or a public notice at the library.
About 20 people attended cuppa with the Mayor on April 17, with the next event scheduled for Friday May 8.
