Country Women’s Association Tamborine branch celebrated their first year of friendship and service with a special dinner at the Bearded Dragon Hotel, feeling proud at what they have achieved in such a short time.
It was an action packed year, with members assisting the community in ex-cyclone Alfred with $3000 worth of grocery cards, providing a listening ear and morning teas at the Tamborine Memorial Hall, holding delicious sweets and treats stalls, packing 40 DV Kits delivered to local frontline services, providing free midday supper and providing support for seniors.
Branch President Sandy Parker-Murphy admitted that the start up had its challenges but said she is proud of what the branch has achieved in such a short time.
“CWA Tamborine opened to help reduce isolation of local women, make new friendships, connect & help community and always welcomes new members,” Ms Parker-Murphy said.
“We’ve had a lot of support from local community, local businesses, our QCWA sister branches, the Tamborine Memorial Hall and many others, who have helped us to help others, but there’s no doubt the backbone of our branch is our members, who donate whenever and wherever needed.
