Leaf Case Moth Larva – Hyalarcta huebneri, picket fence, Driscoll Lane.

It bears repeating that here is another mobile home, ingeniously assembled by a caterpillar.

This is the sixth case moth species in the album, half of which have been fully identified, the remainder only to family.

It is found in every Australian State and Territory except Tasmania.

The caterpillars live in a silken case which they cover in bits of leaves and twigs. The adult female is wingless and grows to a length of one centimetre. The male has wings and grows to two centimetre long.

There are 350 named Australian species of the family Psychidae.
