King and Queen of the mountain crowned

Owen Achterberg

GOLFERS Katy Hewitt and Owen Achterberg have held onto their titles as Tamborine Mountain Golf Club’s Club Champions.

Both players are no strangers to the winners’ circle, having claimed these titles last year and many times over the past two decades.

Katy started playing golf 16 years ago after her partner Krista Bradely gifted her a gold membership.

“I had played socially before but he kind of created a monster,” she laughed.

“Unfortunately there are so few women who play golf – we need more women playing.”

Katy said the course on the day was great, and thanked Course Supervisor Graham ‘Big G’ Andrews, on his work.

Sponsored by the Professionals Tamborine Mountain, the Club Championships were played over three weeks.

On the final week of competition the best four players in each grade play together and the best score over the three weeks is Club Champion.
