Our U11s Eagles have been on a remarkable journey this year on Tamborine Mountain. They are one of our highest-performing teams at Long Road, but that’s not why we’re proud of them.
This team embody every principle of junior community football. They show outstanding maturity for a group so young. When they win, they show modesty and respect to their opponents, and on the lone occasion when they were defeated this year, they showed notable maturity and community spirit. These boys don’t just show up to kick a ball; they show up to learn, work together, and have fun playing football.
Whether they’re at training or they’re playing games, they give 100% of their effort. They don’t shy away from the challenge, and they are some of the hardest workers at the club. Incredibly well-coached, the boys have grown from strength to strength across the course of this campaign.
Not only that, but they are incredibly selfless. Whenever another team requires help, they are always the first team to offer players to help out. Whether it’s our U10s or our U12s, the boys are always hungry to get involved.
The boys started their season with a resounding 5-2 victory over Ormeau before continuing to impress in high-scoring showdowns. The boys’ determination never wavered, and nor did the entertainment value of their football.
Our U11s continued to challenge themselves, competing in the Logan Lightning Twilight Tournament. Facing some of the top teams at their age, our U11s made the club proud, never giving up even in the face of powerhouse clubs like Gold Coast United. It took incredible courage and dedication to play so many games in quick succession. Even after the final whistle, the boys had the energy and spirit to invent new club chants while celebrating their efforts.
At the end of the day, this is what junior football is all about. Community spirit, teamwork, joy, and expression. With such a great platform created for them to grow, we’re looking forward to seeing this team grow next season.
