The winter basketball season is now complete, the Tamborine Mountain Wolves celebrated another successful year by hosting an awards event at the Pimpama Sports Hub Aquatic Centre earlier in the year.
Players from all 14 Tamborine Mountain Basketball teams competing in the Northern Gold Coast Seahawks Basketball competition were in attendance, with trophies awarded to Most Valuable Player, Coach’s Choice and Player’s Choice to players in each team.
The Wolves continued to punch above their weight in the comp, with five teams making finals and three progressing all the way to the Grand Final.
Club President Ben Norling congratulated the competition winners, with the U18B.2 and U10M.1 teams both taking home gold medals for their victories.
He also congratulated Runners Up, the U14B.2 team, who finished a close second after a strong season.
Wolfpack
The highlight of the day was the presentation of the Wolfpack Award to Regan Brown and Brayden Hayes.
The Wolfpack Award is the highest honour any member of the club can receive at Tamborine Mountain Basketball.
“This award is not just about skill or athletic performance of players on the court; it reflects the dedication, work ethic, character, and how they embody the core values of the club,” said Mr Norling.
“The Wolfpack Award is given to a person who demonstrates exceptional commitment to the team, coaches, and the community, both on and off the court.
“It recognises members who go above and beyond in representing the spirit of the Wolves, showing leadership, integrity, and the passion for the game that makes them stand out.”
Both Regan and Brayden have been playing with the Wolves from a young age, performing at a high level and demonstrating exemplary sportsmanlike behaviour on the court.
Off the court, these young men volunteer their time as Junior Coaches with the club, mentoring the next generation of Wolves players to follow in their footsteps.
Regan continues to volunteer his time with the Wolves, while Brayden departs over summer to pursue a career after school.
Honouring Denise
The event was also an opportunity to thank outgoing Wolves’ Committee member Denise Hayes, who has provided many years of service looking after the team management function across all age groups.
The Wolves have commenced summer basketball and look forward to another enjoyable season.
