Geometrid Moth – Gymnoscelis lophopus, garage, Central Avenue.
The moth was only identified the week before last as a result of me updating the documentation (location and species identification) of my image library photos.
I divide each year into six-month periods, A and B – the catching up starting with 2022 A.
I couldn’t find the moth in my Moths Album, which contains 531 entries, so I sent the photo to my expert.
There is scant online information about this tiny species, which is found in Queensland and new South Wales.
It was first described in 1904. Wingspan is 20 mm.
At the time of writing, I have completed the documentation up to and including 2025 A.
