Dome Web Spider – Cyrtophora moluccensis, garden, Eagle Heights.

Although the spider is an orb-weaver, its web is horizontal and domed, rather than vertical. It is native to India, Japan, Indonesia and PNG, inter alia.

In Australia, it is mainly found in Queensland, the Northern Territory and New South Wales. The web is from 30-60cm across.

This wide shot was only captured in March 2024, from footage shot in February 2008.

The spider can be made out, lurking in the apex of the web.
