We’ve enjoyed fabulous yoga this week.
A chakra balancing class, taking our awareness through these energy portals (seven of them) up our spines from our tailbones to the crowns of our heads.
The chakras physically correspond to nerve plexus in the body but metaphysically they represent portals into our pranic bodies (the energy body filled with meridian lines so beloved by the acupuncturists).
With movement, breathwork and intuition we tuned into our pranic bodies and tried to get an idea of how the energy was moving through the chakra points.
Fascinating and fun yoga.
We finished our class this week with a Buddhist meditation on taking the centre seat in your own life.
Quite profound and aligned to the idea of walking the middle path.
The middle path being that place in your life between the two extremes of perfection and ruin.
Somewhere in the middle is where most of us reside. And the more we delve into the middle way, the more deeply we come to rest between the play of opposites.
If we can learn to still our minds and rest in the middle of our own lives, the world around us will take its natural course. As the great Surya Das said: There’s many lanes on the highway of enlightenment, they don’t have to be on the razor’s edge like the yellow line dotted in the middle. Balance is appropriate, not too tight, not too loose. In Buddhism we call it the Middle Way.
